ADECA, Broadband and Sandtown School

Today I attended the groundbreaking ceremony for an infrastructure rehab project on a portion of the building that once was home to the Sandtown school in Millbrook. This is a project the Elmore County commission was able to work with the City of Millbrook on and will ultimately result in putting this facility back to good use serving the community citizens on a larger scale. Being in the building brought back many old and found memories of when I attended school at Sandtown.

I was also able to be in a meeting with  Director Kenneth Boswell of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) today at the Elmore County courthouse. We discussed ways ADECA could assist Elmore County with various Economic Development and Infastructure projects.

We also discussed the lack of Broadband access in Elmore county  and his agency’s  efforts to affect positive change state wide. After hearing Director Boswell discuss this issue I am more than confident that his agency will be a key part of  the State of Alabama working with the counties and municipalities towards resolving this widespread Broadband access problem.

I appreciate Director Boswell for taking the entire day to meet with county and municipal officials to simply let us know how his agency can help us and listen to things we need help with all across Elmore County.

Thank you to Leisa Finely with the Elmore County Economic Development Authority and to Greg Clark and Staff with the Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission for making Director Boswell’s vist very productive.
