Commissioner Bart Mercer was appointed by Governor Robert Bentley and took office as County Commissioner of District 4 on December 26, 2016. Commissioner Mercer is a graduate of Holtville High School and attended Auburn University Montgomery.
Bart is an active member of the community and has served as a board member of the Elmore Fire Department for 19 years. He also serves on the Edgewood Academy Board of Trustees and the Alabama Manufactured Housing Association. Bart previously served on the Board of Directors of the Elmore County Economic Development Authority for 14 years and was serving his 4th year as the Chairman before being appointed to the Elmore County Commission.
Commissioner Mercer’s employment history includes over 30 years of business experience as the Vice-President of Jenilyn’s Creations and President of Mercer Property Management. Bart is also a licensed home builder and landscaper.
Commissioner Mercer has been married to Lori Lemmond Mercer for 13 years, and together they have two children, Katelyn and Owen. The Mercers are active members of Millbrook First United Methodist Church.
