Reminder:

County wide cleanup day is this Saturday May 13 2017

Trucks will be at these locations from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

The pick-up sites are for residents to bring amounts of trash larger than the normal residential trash container will accommodate.

Limbs smaller than four feet and no more than six inches in diameter will be accepted but it is not designed to accept trash or clean-up debris from contractors. Items such as batteries, appliances, oils and gases, paints or thinners will not be accepted.

Information provided by Elmore County Engineer Richie Beyer:

Microsurfacing is a cost effective pavement preservation technique designed to extend the life of a road at approximately a quarter of the cost of traditional resurfacing.

This is one of a couple projects that Elmore County is performing in concert with work on some Town of Deatsville and Town of Elmore streets.

Packaging this work together by the towns and county allow all three entities to stretch our resources to accomplish as many improved roads as fiscally possible.

Microsurfacing work is scheduled to be performed Thursday in the Deatsville area.

Industry Expands in Elmore County

Today I attended an event at the GKN Aerospace manufacturing facility in Tallassee where they announced and had the ground breaking on a 20,000 Sq. Ft Building expansion.

This expansion is a result the need for additional space due to an increase in production.

GKN employs 800 people at their facility in Tallassee and we appreciate them again choosing Elmore County as the place to invest their dollars.

The Commission also thanks the Elmore County Economic Development Authority and the Elmore County Industrial Development Authority for their work on this project.

This is what it looks like when people work together to improve Elmore County.

Today, Saturday May 6, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. all Elmore County citizens can bring up to 6 paper boxes of personal documents and they will be securely destroyed on-site. The mobile shredding truck will be located in the North parking lot of the Elmore Judicial Complex which is on Hwy 231 across from Tutwiler Prison.

The Ingram Road bridge replacement project is well under way.

These pictures we taken Wednesday 5-3 of the bridge just south of Myrick road.

Estimated completion date for both bridges is in August but those dates are assuming good weather.

If you are not aware of the plans that Bill Myers, his staff and leadership have for improving and expanding the Grandview YMCA facilities, you would be impressed after you found out.

I have had conversations with the Grandview YMCA about their Master Plan for their facility but got to hear additional information today presented at the Millbrook Kiwanis weekly meeting.

We have great people leading the Grandview YMCA, they have a clear vision and purpose and I encourage all to be a part of their efforts.

The Elmore County Commission recognizes the importance of keeping your personal information from getting into the wrong hands. One way to prevent this is to never throw away documents that contains sensitive personal information without shredding those documents first.

On Saturday May 6, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. all Elmore County citizens can bring up to 6 paper boxes of personal documents and they will be securely destroyed on-site.
