Grandview / Hwy 14 Intersection Improvements Update

ALDOT crews are working to install the new traffic signal and related equipment at the intersection of Grandview and Hwy 14.

We understand installation will take place this week with camera placement and testing to follow.

When those tasked with serving citizens work together, this is the type of safety improvement project that can happen. The Elmore County Commission appreciates the opportunity to work collectively with the City of Millbrook and ALDOT on this project.

Elmore Volunteer Fire Department – New Fire Station in Service Today

The Elmore Volunteer Fire Department is moving into their new station today. Equipment is being relocated and firefighters will begin responding from the new station.

Haynes Ambulance has a separate building adjacent to the new fire station used to house equipment and personnel for faster response to calls on the west side of the County.

I have had the honor of serving on the fire departments administrative board for more than 20 years in Elmore. It has taken many years of planning and there have been many people dedicate their time and money to make this new station possible.

We appreciate the members of the Elmore Fire Department along with members of all fire departments across the County that serve their fellow citizens each day.

A ribbon cutting, and open house is planned for Saturday August 18th 10:00a.m., please join us.

Elmore County EMA Director Accepts Position with Alabama EMA

Below is information the County Commission just released concerning Elmore County Emergency Management Agency Director Eric Jones accepting a position with the Alabama EMA as a Program Coordinator. I am excited that Eric will be able to take his talents and utilize them on a State level. Eric has served the citizens of Elmore County very well for many years and has been a vital part of County government. He has also been a friend for 35 plus years and while I hate to see him leave the day-to-day operations of our county, I am glad he has this opportunity.

Thanks,

Bart

Eric Jones, Elmore County EMA Director, has accepted a position with Alabama EMA as Emergency Management Program Coordinator. Jones’s local government experience played a key role in his selection for and decision to accept the position.

“The Elmore County Commission is so proud of Eric and the fact that he has this opportunity. For someone with his background and expertise in local government emergency management to be able to take his talents to a statewide platform, our state and the various local governments will be gaining a great asset. His departure will leave a void in our county, but Eric has developed a top notch, efficient and effective program for the citizens of our county that we are confident we will be able to maintain for years to come” stated Elmore County Commission Chairman Troy Stubbs.

Eric Jones has mixed emotions as he leaves the stellar program he has poured his life into over the last 14 years. “I will always consider the opportunity to serve my home county as a public servant in EMA/ HS as one of the highest honors and privileges of my life and will miss it greatly” said Jones.

The Elmore County Commission wishes Eric the best in his new role and is excited to see how Eric’s talents can be leveraged at the state level to continue providing Elmore County citizens with an exceptional emergency management program.

Jones will be transitioning into his new role with Alabama EMA in mid August.
