County wide cleanup day is this Saturday July 15th

Trucks will be at the locations below from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The pick-up sites are for residents to bring amounts of trash larger than the normal residential trash container will accommodate.

Limbs smaller than four feet and no more than six inches in diameter will be accepted but it is not designed to accept trash or clean-up debris from contractors. Items such as batteries, appliances, oils and gases, paints or thinners will not be accepted.

These are the pick-up sites for this Saturday:

Town of Elmore – Town Hall

Holtville High School

Elmore County Judicial Complex

CEWSA – Redland Facility

Emerald Mountain Equestrian Center

Kent – Old Highway Department

This is the meeting agenda for the Commission meeting 7-10-17.

The Elmore County Commission meets on the 2nd Floor of the Elmore County Courthouse. Work Session starts at 5:00 p.m. and Commission meeting soon after normally about 6:00 p.m.

The two bridges being replaced on Ingram Road are nearing completion.

The plan is for the County Highway department to begin work on the approach to the box culverts within the next week and hopefully have both projects completed before the end of August.

But as we know, this plan will only work if the weather allows it to.

Millbrook Men’s Club Annual BBQ was a busy place when I arrived earlier this morning. I understand people were lined up before 6:00 this to get some of their great BBQ.

I appreciate what this group does for the community and its members that make it all happen.

The Grandview Family YMCA is hosting a 4th of July celebration event this evening where the community can enjoy hotdogs, fireworks and fellowship.

Event started at 7:30 and goes until 9:30 this evening.

Early afternoon today the Elmore County Commission was notified of a large hole in the road at the bridge just off Hwy 231 on Redland Road that resulted in it being closed.
An assessment of the situation was done and Elmore County Engineer Richie Beyer immediately mobilized equipment and staff to begin the emergency road repair.
County crews have worked continuously since this time and at 10:00pm tonight Redland Road has been reopened.

Great job Richie, the Elmore County Highway Dept staff.

The Elmore County Highway Department completed emergency repairs to Redland Road this evening. As of 10pm, the road was back open to traffic. The County advises everyone to use caution as they travel this stretch of Redland Road as the repairs were intended to restore essential travel and may need additional work after normal traffic resumes.

The County Commission appreciates the patience of our citizens whose normal travel routes were interrupted today.

The Elmore County Commission through its Highway Department is actively working to repair a sinkhole that developed on the western abutment of the county bridge on Redland Rd between US 231 and Rifle Range Rd. Repair work began hours after the initial notification of the problem by a nearby resident of Redland Rd. Through swift response by local volunteer fire department, Wetumpka PD, Elmore County Sheriff, and Elmore County Highway Department personnel, no damages or injuries resulted from the storm related problem.

Highway department crews plan to work through the evening and weekend in an attempt to reopen the roadway prior to Monday morning rush hour traffic.

While emergency repairs are being made, the public is encouraged to utilize Jasmine Hill Rd and Willow Springs Rd to detour the damaged area. The Elmore County Commission appreciates the public’s patience why these emergency repairs are completed.

If you are travelling to the east side of the county to the Hwy 231 / Redland Road area please be aware.

Redland Road is closed between U.S. Hwy. 231 and Rifle Range Road until further notice.

Motorist should use Jasmine Hill Road to Willow Springs Road to access Redland Road east of Rifle Range Road.

This closure has been caused by a sink hole in the road near the first bridge off of Hwy 231.

If you have traveled Airport Road this week you will see construction crews have been able to do a minimal amount of work on the resurfacing project that has started. Maybe the rain will not continue to interfere with progress.

The entire section of Airport Road is scheduled to be resurfaced but as we all know the weather will dictate the completion date.

Paving company employees were on the project site early this morning getting equipment positioned and signage in place.

Please be patient when traveling Airport Road, expect delays and one lane being closed at times.
